Terms and Conditions

Rates are

- applicable to new bookings only
- quoted, invoiced and payable in ZAR
- quoted per adult sharing per night
- subject to a 50% supplement for rooms/suites occupied by one adult
- inclusive of all meals, two games drives and selected beverages (premium brands not included), tourism levy and 14% Vat
- subject to change without prior notice

* We recommend a minimum stay of two nights throughout the year

Children Policy

* This policy applies to all persons from 0 up to and including 11 years old
* Persons from 12 years and older are considered as adults and will therefore require their own room/suite at the applicable rates
* Persons under the age of 16 years are not permitted on any walking safaris
* Children are accommodated at Riverdene Lodge and Sarili Lodge only
* Child rates are:

- applicable whether children share a room with adults or not
- inclusive of meals, non alcoholic beverages, activities (age dependant) and the 'Kids on Safari'; program

* 0 - 3 year old

- are accommodated at no additional cost
- may share with adults, depending on the availability of cots and/or rooms with a sleeper couch
- are not permitted on game drives

* 4 - 11 year old

- are accommodated at 50% (half) of the adult sharing rate
- may share with adults, depending on the availability of rooms with a sleeper couch
- are permitted on game drives

* Sleeper couches can accommodate a maximum of one child each
* Cots can accommodate a maximum of one child per cot
* Rooms accommodating children sharing with parents contains one sleeper couch per room
* Child minding are done by lodge staff and can be arranged at an additional cost

Travel Information Insurance

* We highly recommend that travel insurance is taken out

Transfers

* Transfers can be arranged with reservations on request at additional costs
* All transfers are handled by accredited car hire and charter companies
* Transfer from/to private landing strips are complimentary, but must be booked prior to arrival

Payment

* 25% Deposit will be required within 14 days of reservation being made
* Balance will be required 30 days prior to arrival
* Full pre payment will be required at time of booking for reservations made within 30 days of arrival

Cancellations (Peak Season: 20 December - 10 January)

* Only written cancellations will be accepted. Ensure to receive an acknowledgment of cancellations from reservations
* 50% of fee if cancellation less than 60 days prior to arrival
* 100% of fee if cancellation less than 30 days prior to arrival

General

Reaching Shamwari by road

Follow the N2 between Port Elizabeth towards Grahamstown for 65kms, turn left at the Shamwari sign on to gravel (R342) for 7 kms, turn right at the Shamwari sign.

From Port Elizabeth

Follow the N2 on the Grahamstown road for 65kms, turn left at the Shamwari sign on to gravel (R342) for 7 kms, turn right at the Shamwari sign.

From Johannesburg
 
(R32) turn left at Paterson (R342), follow the road for 11kms, turn left at the Shamwari sign. From Grahamstown
Follow the N2 towards Port Elizabeth for 58kms, turn right at the Shamwari sign (R342) for 7kms, and right at the Shamwari sign.Most car rental companies have branches at the major cities and airports. Check with Avis, Budget, Imperial, Europcar, Tempest.

Transfer Service

A chaffeur-drive service is available between Port Elizabeth Airport / major hotels and SHAMWARI Game Reserve.
Bookings for this service can be made directly with Shamwari.
Unlike much of Africa, South African roads are excellent, and you can expect to travel at 60 - 70 mph. Like the British, they drive on the left hand side of the road. Wearing seat belts is mandatory.

LOBENGULA LODGE

Follow the N2 out of Port Elizabeth until you reach the N2 / N10 cross over. Follow the N10 to Paterson/Cradock bypassing Paterson. Travel for 11 km from Paterson until you reach the Alicedale turn-off. Turn right at the Lobengula Lodge sign board and travel for a further 12 km on a gravel road. Turn right at the Shamwari Gate and follow the sign boards to Lobengula Lodge.

EAGLES CRAG LODGE AND BAYETHE LODGE

Follow the N2 out of Port Elizabeth heading towards Grahamstown bypassing the R342 turn-off. Continue along the N2 until you reach a sign board Eagles Crag and Baythe on the Sidbury road. Turn left on the gravel road and follow this road passing through the Kwantu gate until you reach a T-junction. At the T-junction follow the sign boards right to Bayethe and left to Eagles Crag.

LONG LEE MANOR, RIVERDENE LODGE, BUSHMANS RIVER LODGE AND SARILI LODGE

Follow the N2 towards Grahamstown. Take the turn-off towards Paterson on the R342 and travel 7 km up the gravel road. Enter at the 1st gate for Riverdene, Bushmans River Lodge and Sarili Lodge. Enter at the 2nd gate for Long Lee Manor.
